We all know that there are hundreds of forums out there on the internet, you have no doubt come across many of them. Actually there are not hundreds, but hundreds of thousands of forums. In fact you can type in pretty much any niche market you can think of into a search engine search box with the word "forum" after it and you will get loads of results.

This is great news for affiliate marketers because it gives you instant access to people that are interested in your niche. All of these members and visitors to these forums are potential customers for you.

First, you want to select which forums to use. Fortunately that is easy, you just go to your favorite search engine type in the niche and add the word "forum". Eg "dog training forum", or "swimming forum". The results that come up will usually be in order of the most popular so it makes sense to stop at the top and work down.

Now, you have to be careful to avoid being labeled as a spammer. A spammer is someone who just goes into any forum and posts something like "Best price **myproduct** anywhere, get it here" and puts a link.
This kind of post will usually get deleted and your account will get closed. And rightly so! Nobody wants their forum ruined by that type of post.

So, I am definitely not suggesting that you do that! Your presence on your selected forum should always be beneficial. This is very easy to do. Just read through a couple of threads to get the feel for the forum. Only takes about five minutes. Then, after registering as a free member, make some short replies to existing threads without placing any url in the comment. Now open up your profile and add a link to your affiliate sales page in the signature section. Now make some more comments and notice that all of your comments now have your url at the bottom of them.

Before posting any url directly into a post, read the rules of the forum. Many forums don't allow it and if you do it then you will lose those good posts that you made as well.

Now how does this forum posting go viral ?
The posts that you make to many forums (and your link with them) can often go viral because they are subscribed to by members who receive the contents of the post via the forums' RSS feeds. These feeds are then collected and placed automatically on hundreds on blogs and news websites.

This viral aspect makes posting on many forums extremely worthwhile. Just one post can result in getting a thousand back-links and tens of thousands of views on your website.

Always Follow the Forum Basics:
Keep away from any comments that may offend anyone. Arguments often end up with everyone looking a bit silly in front of other members of the forum or visitors, so it is best to stay out of them. Keep your sense of humor and reply to all posts that refer to what you have written.

The more posts you make that are articulate and display your knowledge, the higher your readership will be and ultimately the higher your sales commissions will be.
