I'm here to tell you it is very, very unlikely. Let me at least say, it is very unlikely by itself, if it really happened, it had a whole lot of other things going on that it is not telling us. Here is my point. Just having a web site, or just having us build you a web site magnet in itself is a waste of money. It is a waste of money if you want it to bring you in customers. It is not a waste of money if you want to look at it, put it on your business cards and admire it. Ford Motor Co and other big businesses have websites just to look at, for branding is what they call it. I for one, can't afford my marketing dollars to go for just branding. So, if you are going to have a website built and nothing else (and you want more customers) then I would forget it. If you want to build a good website, optimized to show up in the search engines and you want to drive traffic to it with an ongoing marketing strategy, then yes, it is a great idea. On going marketing strategies do not need to be expensive. If your willing to wait a bit, then a properly designed, search engine optimized web site will eventually show up, and possibly show up near the top of the search engines, when potential customers search for your business services in their region. If you want to speed the process a bit, you can do some low cost CPC (cost per click) advertising on either Google or Facebook. You can do some targeted PPV (pay per view) advertising and you can get active in social media. Tweeting about your business can generate a ton of traffic. Rumor has it the Tweeting alone accounts for $250,000 yearly sales for a particular pizza company. If you think your business is boring, or you don't have much to advertise, just break it down into regions or months. There is bound to be a special you can offer to customers within 10 miles of XXX or during the month of May only. Thinking outside the box will often give you ideas worth exploring, and worth tweeting about. Local business marketing can be fun with the right strategy.
