If you want to get more people to your site, then you're going to need to figure out how to do that without digging deep into your pockets to make it happen.

In this article I'm going to go over 3 techniques for getting free blog traffic and exposure that will flood your blog with interested and targeted visitors.

Before we get into the techniques, it's important that you understand that while free traffic does not cost you anything in nickels and dimes it will require your time and energy to execute.

The first technique that has proven to be quite effective is writing press releases. Writing press releases does not require you to be a major in journalism, but it can get you links as well as targeted traffic relatively quickly.

In order for your press release articles to be effective, you must write them from a third party perspective. The best way to learn how to write press releases for free blog traffic is to visit press release sites and observe articles that have already been written.

It's important as well not to blatantly advertise in your press release so that you're articles will be accepted, much like an article directory.

The second technique you can use to drive free blog traffic to your site is blog commenting.

For this technique to work it's important to find a list of blogs related to your market that you can comment on. What this technique allows you to do is tap into blogs that already have a fan base and high traffic.

This technique works only if you leave meaningful comments. What this means is first, you need to read the article in order to make a comment that the blog owner will approve. Second, comments like "nice post", or "great blog love your article" will most likely get deleted, so don't do that.

What makes this technique so effective is that you are literally able to tap into the existing traffic that frequents the high profile blogs you target and with a link facing back to your blog and decent comments you can attract some of that traffic back to your site.

The third technique involves social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is one of the easiest ways to get high quality backlinks and instant traffic pouring into your site.

Websites like Digg, StumbleUpon and others are filled with people who are constantly looking for new information on their topic of interest.
